How we operate

1. Collection of Trophies
On collection ,the preferred taxidermy company go through each and every trophy,together with the outfitter/Professional Hunter. We ascertain ourselves that all trophies are in good order and that they are tagged properly. All trophies are recorded on a Collection Register,of which the Hunting Outfitter receives a copy after it has been signed by the responsible person. All necessary supporting documentation will also be collected. Should they not receive ALL documentation with collection,it WILL delay your consignment.
2. Re-checking of Trophies
On arrival at the processing facility,all trophies are being rechecked according to the Collection Register and PH Register. The taxidermy ensures that all trophies are adequately tagged with the client name, outfitter and all parts of the specie.
3. Skull and Horns Process- All Taxidermies
Upon confirmation from the client,all skulls, horns, bones and claws are boiled in a chemical detergent and then cleaned. According to the time schedule,they are subjected to a Solution to render them free from any possible bacteria. After this action they get sun-dried. During the next step they are bleached with another Solution. All processes followed by Taxidermies are approved by the South African Veterinary Service (Department of Agriculture).
4. Skins Process- All Taxidermies
All skins are dipped in a pickled bath for minimum of 48 hours. Thick skinned animals as well as animals with a fat layer are shaved and re-dipped. This is to ensure proper penetration of the pickled solution. After this process all skins are subjected to a Salt Action for a continuous period of not less than 30 days.
5. Correspondence with Client/Outfitter
The client is regulary kept up to date regarding the process of his or her trophies via email or whatsapp. We also keep the outfitter updated regarding any missing/incomplete documentation we deem necessary before taxidermy work starts. We will also be responsible for all your correspondence with the shipping agent.
6. Billing
We require 50% deposit before taxidermy starts. Once all trophies are nearing the end of the process,a bill is send to the client. The bill and deposit can be settled either by Credit Card (YOCO) or Wire Transfer/Electronic Fund Transfer. 5% Discount if deposit is paid within 7days.
7. Packing of Skulls
Each and every skull and/or horn is wrapped with “bubble wrap” to ensure that it gets maximum protection during transportation/shipment. SBS Logistics (Pty) Ltd will pack all skulls.
8. Packing of Skins
All skins are packed separately in a thick, 150 micron plastic bag,to ensure maximum protection during transportation/shipping. These plastic bags are then heat-sealed and cut to size,to ensure a neat and visible item inside. Every item,skull/horn and skin is then marked with the hunter’s batch number and trophy description on it. This makes it easier for US Fish & Wildlife/USDA/CDC to identify the item on inspection,should they decide to do so. It also assists the taxidermy with the necessary identification of the trophy part(s).SBS Logistics (Pty) Ltd will pack all skins.
9. Crating
SBS Logistics (Pty) Ltd are responsible for all packing and crating of trophies. Packing material conforms to ISPM15 regulation which is a requirement for the International Standard for Packing Material. They are duly registered with a unique number. Once the purpose built crate is build,all trophies are very carefully packed in the crate after being double checked according to Collection Register and necessary Export Permits. According to USDA/CDC requirements, all swine (warthog/bush pig) and primates (baboon/monkey) trophies are packed and crated separately. All small skulls (pigmy antelopes and small cats) are packed into small cardboard boxes, which are then packed inside the big crate, to ensure that no possible breakage can occur during transportation and shipping.
10. Shipping of Trophies
We work together with SBS Logistics (Pty) Ltd to ship your trophies by aircraft. SBS Logistics (Pty) Ltd will keep yourself and us informed and updated with your order. On arrival of your consignment in your home country,the Clearing Agent/Import Broker will ensure that your consignment is cleared by the necessary authorities,before it will be forwarded to your final destination of choice (consignee). We also advise on Clearing Agent/ Import Broker if needed. The COST OF SHIPPING IS NOT INCLUDED IN OUR PRICES. SBS Logistics (Pty) Ltd shipping prices are quoted seperately and paid with final bill.
